8th International Seminar on Detection Dogs Sponsored by UK LEADS TSG
UK LEADS is pleased to announce its 8th International Seminar, "Canine Detection - 2012 and Beyond", to be held at the Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh, 4 - 6 March 2009. This aims to build on the success of the 2007 Seminar, "Dog vs. Machine - Harmony or Discord?” by seeking to highlight and discuss key longer term challenges associated with canine detection.
This international event seeks to bring together practitioners, scientists, managers and policy makers to discuss all aspects of the use of canine detection and its contribution to wider detection capability. Given the increasing demand for protective security capability, not least in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games, a particular focus of discussion will be how the private sector can work to develop accredited and validated commercial canine detection teams, complementing the capabilities of law enforcement agencies.
Registrations are invited from government, academia and the commercial sector and will open on or around 1 November 2008. Those wishing to receive registration details and updates on the draft programme should email leads.tsg@virgin.net
Those with an interest in presenting a short lecture or poster are encouraged to submit an abstract (single side A4) by 30 November to leads.tsg@virgin.net Abstract submissions are particularly encouraged from those with fewer than 5 years experience in a relevant field. A number of free or subsidized registrations will be awarded to those who are invited to present and meet this criterion. (Note that the Organizing Committee's decision regarding such awards will be final).
